SatAM Revival Plans Hindered, Controversy Still Raging

ARTAIL CENTRAL, INTERNET, 12-JAN-2001: The "Save SatAM" Project has hit yet another roadblock today as it has been revealed that the much-touted "SatAM Petition", created to raise awareness of many fans' desire to revive the currently defunct ABC Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon, has been plagued with many counterproductive entries.

Among some of the cited entries were; an anti-SatAM pro-Sonic Underground entry, a long ranting column which was halted only by the comments box limit, several signatures with false names, occasional threats of violence against DIC Enterprises and/or Cartoon Network if the show was not revived, and even an entry from a person who was claiming to be Sonic the Hedgehog himself. These were just a sample of many false entries, which were made despite the petition manager's asking for seriousness in the matter.

This only continues the controversy surrounding the project, which not only works to bring the original two seasons of the cartoon back to the airwaves but pushes for the making of the "lost" third season, which was cancelled due to low viewership. Critics of the project state that making the third season now would be detrimental as it would most likely be created in the same special-effects laden style of Sonic Undergound, the most recent and least popular of Sonic cartoons.

Also under fire is the suggestion of having Cartoon Network air the existing episodes, some citing that the network will not pick up the show due to its penchant for old Hanna-Barbera cartoons (which are cheaper to acquire and thus more desirable.) Artie Prower, who hosts the petition on his website TeamArtail, was unavailable for comment as he has been "on vacation" since early December.

The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog aired Saturday mornings on ABC from 1993-1995.
